Josiah Boothby

Hornist Josiah Boothby brings an rare and eclectic set of skills to SCB’s roster. His contributions include improvisation and contemporary music expertise, in addition to core skills of classical performance and teaching. Boothby combines the expertise and perspectives of many of the world’s best hornists, including Dale Clevenger, Jeffrey Snedeker, and David Kappy, with theoretical knowledge gained from studies with Marc Seales, Vern Seilert and Tom Varner.

Boothby’s professional career includes engagements with orchestras across the northwest, private lessons with horn students of all ages, and chamber music coaching at Academy of Music Northwest. Boothby is also an experienced soloist, having performed with the Warsaw Autumn Music Festival, the Lake Union Civic Orchestra, the University of Washington Symphony Orchestra, and the Garfield High School Orchestra.
